Bananas have such healing elements. Not only are they tasty, their good for you!
Hubby was making dinner on the grill. Jerk chicken, rice and grilled pineapple. I was on dessert. I looked at 3 bananas on the counter, getting browner by the day. “I think I’ll grill bananas!” “Do we have vanilla ice cream?” “No, but the store around the corner does!”
Make certain the grill grates are brushed and cleaned off before starting to grill your bananas.
Grilled Bananas
This is a version of Bananas Foster
Ingredients
- 3-6 bananas
- 3/4 cup brown sugar light or dark
- 6 tbsp butter
- 1 1/2 tsp vanilla
- pinch salt if using salted butter, may be omitted
- dash cinnamon
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- vanilla ice cream
Instructions
- Melt butter in microwave, 30 seconds on high.Split bananas in skins, in half. Brush flat side with butter. Add brown sugar, vanilla, salt and cinnamon to butter, stir until combined, and sugar has liquified. Set aside.Place bananas flat side down in hot grill. The butter will prevent sticking, but may cause a little flame up. Grill 2 minutes, turn with tongs. Bananas will have grill marks. Drizzle tops with brown sugar mixture and grill for 4 minutes.Remove from grill. Either in a pan on the stove, or on the grill heat remaining brown sugar mixture until starts to bubble. Remove from heat, Add cream, and stir until combined. Scoop ice cream into individual bowls.slice bananas in skins. Put slices on top of ice cream, top with sauce.
These are delicious. There will be extra caramel sauce, keep it refrigerated for another day.
